THE CHALLENGE
Gareth Evans is not your average chef. A finalist in Welsh Junior Chef of the Year at just 18, he went on to work at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze, Pollen Street Social and ultimately Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, one of the most celebrated two Michelin star restaurants in the world. When he made the decision to return to his roots in Pembrokeshire and join the team at Blas in St Davids, the world needed to know about it.
The challenge was telling that story in a way that did it justice. A CV reads like a list of achievements. A brand film makes you feel them. Gareth needed a personal brand film that captured not just where he had been, but who he was and what he was bringing to one of Wales’s most beautiful corners. Something that would stop people mid scroll and make them want to book a table.
THE PLAN
We travelled to St Davids to spend a full shoot day with Gareth at Blas, capturing him in his natural environment. The kitchen. The pass. The plate. Every frame of this food and drink video production was built around the detail that defines great cooking, the precision, the craft and the quiet focus of someone who has spent years training at the very highest level.
Food styling was handled throughout, ensuring every dish looked as extraordinary on camera as it did on the plate. At this level of culinary background, the food itself is as much the story as the chef, and every shot was treated accordingly.
The interview was directed to draw out the personal side of Gareth’s journey. Why he left London. Why Pembrokeshire. What coming home means when you have spent years chasing Michelin stars in some of the world’s best kitchens. That human story is what turns a brand film into something people actually connect with.
The finished film was timed to land alongside a press article announcing Gareth’s arrival at Blas, giving the story a life across social media and multiple platforms simultaneously to maximise the impact of the launch moment.
THE RESULTS
The brand film gave Gareth Evans a flagship piece of content that announced his arrival at Blas in the most compelling way possible. Paired with a coordinated press article and social media rollout, it turned what could have been a quiet career move into a proper launch moment.
For a chef of Gareth’s calibre, the film needed to work as hard as he does. It did exactly that, capturing the precision, the passion and the personality of someone who has cooked at the very highest level and chosen to bring all of that back home to Pembrokeshire.
